Meta has issued a formal apology to the No Kings Coalition, the social justice movement behind historic protests, for shutting down its Instagram account during a nationwide demonstration this weekend.

The account went offline for more than an hour during nationwide voter events. Meta described the Oct. 17 incident as "incorrect enforcement" and attributed it to "abrupt, high-volume" requests that resembled bot traffic.
