Saudi Arabia’s trade surplus widens 17.8% to $4.16bn in August: GASTAT

Saudi Arabia’s merchandise trade surplus widened to SR15.59 billion ($4.16 billion) in August, up from SR13.24 billion in July, according to preliminary data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). The increase represents a 17.8 percent rise month on month, as exports outpaced imports.

Merchandise exports rose 3.3 percent month on month to SR87.24 billion, while imports increased 0.6 percent to SR71.64 billion, the official data showed. The figures were reported against the backdrop of ongoing regional conflict.
