The UAE's Cyber Security Council said national efforts to monitor and counter cyber threats are continuing amid an increasing pace of cyberattack attempts targeting vital sectors, most notably energy and education, alongside rapid global development in attack methods. The Council said the national cybersecurity system had detected and countered nearly 750,000 cyberattack attempts during the past period.
According to the Council, the attempts included remote code command execution, distributed denial-of-service attacks, phishing, and cyberattacks supported by artificial intelligence technologies, among other patterns of advanced cyber threats. It said monitoring and response operations are carried out within an integrated national system relying on continuous monitoring, early detection, advanced analysis and proactive response, in coordination with relevant national authorities.
The Council stressed that the rise in detected cyberattack attempts does not necessarily mean successful breaches have occurred, but reflects the efficiency of national capabilities in detecting, dealing with and reducing the risks of threats, contributing to the continuity of digital services. It said the UAE continues to develop its national cybersecurity capabilities by employing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence and by enhancing integration and cooperation among relevant authorities. The Council added that protecting digital infrastructure and vital sectors is a national priority.
